Asolo FugitiveOn trail or off, our new Adventure Gear editor says these fabric/leather boots kept his feet happy through long days and bad weather. Credit excellent cushion, dependable weatherproofing with a high, supportive ankle, and a precise fit that combines a snug heel with a roomy toe box. The test for these boots were on the switchbacks at Mt Whitney. Relentless uphills combined with waterfall crossings tested both the comfort and the wetness protection almost every step of the hike. It was decided that pictures should taken of the boots while they were really being tested. In a photo you'll notice that the boots had to be submerged in order to cross many of the waterfall crossings, and as expected stayed perfectly dry. The weather was quite diverse, daytime temps were in the 50's while evenings got down to the low 30's. It should be mentioned that the Fugitive boot was worn all over Lone Pine (prior to the test hike) for about a day with temperatures reaching 100 degrees. The boot never got too hot, and stayed a moderate temperature around town. What's really nice about the Fugitive boot is that it's a serious hiking boot, capable of functioning very well in extreme cold and wet conditions, while providing ample stability and comfort during heavy backpack loads. Yep, all this in a boot that is also very stylish, needs minimum breaking in and can act quite functional, as well as comfortable, on a simple hike or a seriously long haul. Ideal choice for light hikers and trekkers who demand lightweight and comfort with a snappy design. Duo Asoflex midsole in which two elements are melted together to improve comfort and performance.
